We Will Remember

A study shows that one million World War One veterans have been forgotten by their descendants.

The Culbert Family History blog dedicates this week to remembering the descendants of John Culbert and Mary Ward who enlisted in the First World War (1914-1918).

We'll start on Monday with a tribute to a 20-year-old hardware clerk from Exeter, Ontario who made the ultimate sacrifice for his country: his life.

Later in the week, we'll meet a Culbert whose name I found by chance, inscribed on a war memorial. He was killed in action just one month short of his 25th birthday.

The week of remembrance will wrap up on November 11th with a list of Culbert descendants who enlisted in WW1, with brief biographies for each.
