If you read this post about the earliest known photograph of the John Culbert-Mary Ward family, you'll know that we aren't certain whether or not Susan (Culbert) Crawley is in the group photo, above. At the time this photo was taken, she would have been busy raising her large family and might not have been able to slip away for a photo sitting.
I've been hoping to find a photo of Susan (Culbert) Crawley but until now, I hadn't had any luck. Thanks to Susan's great-great-grandson, Lorne Floyd Brock, we have our first look at Susan (Culbert) Crawley...
Susan (Culbert) Crawley, daughter of John Culbert & Mary Ward. |
The image above was clipped from a larger group photo, here...
The photo above shows Susan (Culbert) Crawley at the home of her daughter, Rebecca (Crawley) Brock (1860-1933) and Rebecca's husband, William Heber Brock (1844-1920). The children in the photo are Susan (Culbert) Crawley's grandchildren. Susan's husband, Philip Crawley is not in the photo, having died in 1872.
William Heber Brock was the owner of William H. Brock General Store in Lobo, Ontario, Canada. The Brock family farm was situated at Lot 13, Concession 4 in Lobo Township.
Susan (Culbert) Crawley's daughter, Rebecca (Crawley) Brock. Thanks to Lorne Floyd Brock, we're seeing Rebecca for the first time, too. |
Thanks very much to Lorne Floyd Brock of Wallaceburg, Ontario for sharing these family photos with us. Lorne is the 3xgreat-grandson of John Culbert and Mary Ward.
