Welcome, Descendants of William Culbert & Ann de Coursey!

The Culbert Family History blog extends a warm welcome to the descendants of William Culbert, the first Canadian born child of John Culbert & Mary Ward.

I'll have more to say about William (1842-1910) and Ann (1845-1886) at a later date.

Notice Ann's maiden name: de Coursey. Variations on the spelling include De Coursey with an upper case "D," Courcy, Courcey, Coursey, and many more. In an effort to remain consistent (and not go insane) I'm using the spelling, "de Coursey." This was the spelling used by Ann's ancestors who came to Canada from Ireland in the 1830s.

Wondering where you've heard that name before?

The road separating Concession 2 and Concession 3 became known as the "Coursey Line" after the many de Courseys who lived on both sides of that road.
