Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to all Canadian Culbert descendants!

Effie (Taylor) Culbert's turkeys. Effie (wife of Myron Culbert) raised turkeys which they sold at the Covent Garden Public Market in London, Ontario, as well as fresh produce, maple syrup and honey. This photo was taken in the late 1920s at the Culbert homestead (Poplar Farm) on The Coursey Line in Biddulph Township near Lucan, Ontario. (Lot 19, Concession 2). You can see the back of the brick farmhouse that was built by Myron's father, Richard Culbert around 1900 to replace the log house.

For those of you who live abroad, you may be surprised to learn that Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving several weeks before the Americans. The reason Canadians celebrate earlier are complicated but one thing is for sure: we have a lot to be thankful for.

Off-topic: If you haven't already submitted your grandparents/grandchildren photos, please email them to me by Tuesday. Don't know what I'm talking about? Click here to find out.
